tune into Sirius XM for South African Jazz with the brilliant Seton Hawkins. Seton is doing incredible things for the global recognition of South African Jazz. His deep knowledge of and love for the music are paired with his passion for sharing it with a global audience. His shows are tastefully curated and explore a wonderful mix of some of the greats from South African jazz history and the rising stars of our current scene!
Jazz at Lincoln Center - South African Songbook Concerts
Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center big band put on a series of concerts through 2019 celebrating South African jazz and the music of South Africa. It featured "a mix of traditional and contemporary South African music, top South African vocalists and instrumentalists performing with the world’s greatest big band and a pre-concert discussion about the music and artists." This series of events is a brilliant platform for South African jazz to meet the global stage and for the worlds to start coming together. The concert recording is available here on youtube and is absolutely worth watching and sharing.
